US Attorney's Office to check ex-NASA employee's ties with Boeing

The former deputy director of NASA, the head of the manned programs directorate, Douglas Loverro, is suspected of providing Boeing with preferences in the tender for the development of a descent module for the Artemis moon exploration program. The investigation launched by the US Attorney's Office against a former NASA official was reported on August 14 by The Wall Street Journal. According to the newspaper, the prosecutor's office of the Metropolitan District of Columbia suggests that Loverro informally informed Boeing's senior vice president of the space and military development unit Jim Chilton about the intention of NASA management to refuse Boeing to tender for the creation of the lunar module due to its technical features and high cost. This allowed the company to submit an updated application a few days later, which, however, was rejected by NASA due to non-compliance with the deadline for submitting changes. Which led to victory in the competition of companies SpaceX Elon Musk, Blue Origin Jeff Bezos and Dynetics. After an investigation by NASA, at the suggestion of NASA Director James Brydenstein, Loverro resigned. According to the news agency, the creation of a landing module for landing US astronauts from spacecraft on the moon will be carried out by SpaceX, Blue Origin and Dynetics. NASA's contract with private American companies was concluded as part of the US lunar program Artemis.
