The new EU representative in Kosovo will be Czech Tomas Shunog

On July 30, the Council of Europe appointed Czech diplomat Tomas Šuñog to the post of head of the EU mission to Kosovo. According to the Albanian news agency Telegrafi, Shunog will be replaced by the EU Special Representative in Kosovo Natalia Apostolova, who has held this post since July 20, 2016. The diplomat will work in Pristina from September 1, 2020 to July 31, 2021. The European Council report on the appointment of Shuñog states that the EU Special Representative believes that Kosovo should be committed to establishing the rule of law and protecting minorities and cultural and religious heritage. The EU Special Representative also supports the European perspective of Kosovo and the rapprochement with the EU arising from the European perspective of the region and the Stabilization and Association Agreement. Shunog already has experience in the Western Balkans region: he previously served as the Czech ambassador to Bosnia and Herzegovina and Slovenia.
