Italian liberals call Silvio Berlusconi to the government of the country

Ex-Prime Minister of Italy and ex-head of the European Commission Romano Prodi in an interview with La7 on Thursday, July 9, said that the party of Silvio Berlusconi Forward, Italy may become part of the current ruling coalition of liberals and populists and that there is no taboo on this issue. Berlusconi's colleagues from other center-right parties, in particular League leader Matteo Salvini, as well as representatives of the Berlusconi party itself, responded by saying that there was no possibility of an alliance between Berlusconi and the current coalition. Observers note that liberals (on behalf of whom Prodi acts) and populists seek to involve Berlusconi in a broad coalition with two goals. The first to increase its (now barely discernible) majority in parliament and reduce dependence on a small faction of another ex-prime minister of Italy, Matteo Renzi. The second goal is to disorganize the center-right coalition of the League, the Brothers of Italy and the Berlusconi party, which, provided unity is maintained, according to any opinion polls will win a landslide victory in the next national elections.
