U.S. Senate rejects resolution condemning Trump for suppressing protests


A resolution condemning US President Donald Trump for suppressing peaceful protests was blocked by the US Senate, in which the majority belongs to Republicans, on June 2, according to the website of the legislature. Dempartia officials tried to hold the vote in an accelerated mode, but Republican leader Mitch McConnell voiced his opposition. The resolution concerned the dispersal of protesters in Lafayette Square in Washington on June 1, when the police fired rubber bullets and tear gas at the crowd. According to the news agency, on June 1, New York State Governor Democrat Andrew Cuomo condemned Donald Trump's initiative to use troops to bring order to the country.
