In Tajikistan, wage arrears are growing

As of the beginning of May 2020, wage arrears in Tajikistan, taking into account past years, reached 51.1 million somoni ($4.957 million), according to the statistics agency under the President of the country. The ministry noted that since the beginning of the year, the amount of debt increased by 16.9 million somoni ($1.639 million) or 33.1% of the total debt to employees of various institutions. At the same time, the largest debt is observed in the real sector of the economy and amounts to 40.2 million somoni ($3.8 million), in construction and in the field of mining about 30.3% of total debt or 15.4 million somoni ($1.494 million) and 27.7% or 14.1 million somoni ($1.367 million), respectively. There is also wage arrears in the service provision sector, where, taking into account past years, about 10.8 million somoni ($1.47 million) have accumulated.
